Wellspring provides more than 40 professionally-led programs and services to meet the psychosocial, emotional, practical, rehabilitation and educational needs of people living with cancer. The focus at Wellspring is on the person, not the disease.

Wellspring provides a safe and confidential place where people living with cancer and their loved ones can network with others in similar situations, can access experts, learn coping strategies, gain practical support and share knowledge. Programs span a comprehensive range of categories, including individual and group support, exercise and restorative care, coping skills, expressive arts and practical guidance in areas such as nutrition, financial management and workplace issues.

Wellspring welcomes people living with cancer at any stage of their cancer journey, as well as their family and caregivers to participate in Wellspring programming, free of charge. Wellspring receives no core or ongoing government funding and relies solely on donations and corporate sponsorships.

$500,000 Pledge Toward the Peel Memorial Medical Center

The new Peel Memorial health campus in downtown Brampton is set to get a major cash boost courtesy of the local Rotary club.

Members from the Rotary Club of Brampton recently presented William Osler Health System officials with a $500,000 cheque. The cheque is a pledge to raise cash to help build and equip the Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness, scheduled to open in 2017.

Rotary members announced the financial commitment during the mayor’s State of the City luncheon earlier this month.

The announcement is a proud moment for the Rotary Club of Brampton as we lend our support to the vision of a new Peel Memorial, which will enhance health care in this community,” said Vanora Spreen, Rotary club president. “We hope our donation will inspire many great leaders of the community to make their own commitment to bring improved health care closer to home.”

The pledge is the largest in the history of the club.
